• About school - basic information

        • The Hotel academy (secondary vocational school) was founded in 1993. The school is located in Košice – in the East Slovakian Region (Košice Selfgovernment Region). Košice is the second largest town in Slovakia .

          Currently after the school reform the school is attended by 497 students in 5- and 4-year study courses – the hotel academy, cook, waiter/waitress, marketing management), in 3-year study course  - confectioner-baker, confectioner-cook, baker, confectioner and 2-year post-secondary course in baking production and catering. The training system combines periods at work and at school.

          The achieved education corresponds with ISCED 3A and ISCED 3C. There are 57 members of teaching staff, out of who 22 are teachers of vocational subjects and 7 supervisors in vocational training.

           

          The schools helps, facility students in getting internationally recognized certificates for bartenders, baristas, and animator in tourism industry by organizing the courses annually. The students participate in national and international competitions, e.g. for baristas, bartenders or bakers in which they achieve great results. There are several competitions organized by the school, namely Gastro, Euro cup, Gastro Junior, Danubius Gastro and international bartending competition Cassovia Cup, which has been organized by the school since 1997. Moreover, our students are also successful in competitions in secondary professional activity and foreign languages.

           

          During their courses of study, the students gain knowledge in various subjects like geography in tourism industry, services, and tour-guiding. Since 2011 as a part of Junior Achievement project an elective subject Entrepreneur has been included in our curriculum.

          We were successful in programmes /projects/ e-twinning (since 2011) and “the Youth in Action program” -Komprax.  We were awarded the Certificate of Quality for the project „Engaging Stories – Puzzling Quizzes„ in 2013.

           

          Since 2003 we allowed 188 students and 65 teachers and vocational teachers to experience mobility abroad through the lifelong learning framework Leonardo da Vinci and Erasmus+.

          The school and its school partner companies accept approximately 15 students and 5 teachers from abroad within vocational internship annually.

          It has an extensive network of international partners in 14 European countries .

          Here is a very good cooperation with British Council, France Aliance, Goethe Institut.
